National Garden Bureau “Matching Funds” GrowLab^® Program

NGB is dedicated to children’s gardening. Since 1994 NGB members have sponsored nearly 50 GrowLabs in US schools. Most of the GrowLabs are still in use. The success of the program is dependent on the long-term commitment of NGB and the sponsoring company to supply information and advice, and to replenish expendable materials such as potting mixture, containers, labels, or seed to their classroom.

GrowLab^® units are designed and constructed for self-contained, tabletop seed-starting and growing seedlings.

NGB members are offered the opportunity to sponsor a GrowLab^® for a community school of their selection. The company sponsor agrees to contribute funds and to provide a company representative to serve as an advisor to the classroom. An advisor donates an hour or so each year to provide help, information or replenishment materials to the "adopted" classroom.

Each spring the classroom teachers are encouraged to continue the program and to contact their member sponsor or NGB for needed materials. The sponsors are also encouraged to contact their school.
